Plastic Surgery Madness

Recently plastic surgery is very much everywhere in the media due to the uproar about the poisonous breast implants, PIP.

I will put it straight out there, my own opinion on plastic surgery.

I believe that for those who is is necessary for, then yes go ahead, if it makes your life easier to lead, or helps you for medical reasons, then definitely. For those who choose to do plastic surgery for non-medical reason, please be careful. I am not against plastic surgery at all! But I believe many do not see the severity of the surgery, and how addictive it can be. Many enjoy the quick fix it gives to themselves and their confidence, and then resort to it more and more. That is where I stand.

This post is about the influence of plastic surgery on children. I came across an article in Closer Magazine about Sarah Burges, 51, who buys her daughter, 7, vouchers for plastic surgery for when she is 18. Madness!  The mother herself has been dubbed the Plastic Barbie as she has had over £500,000 worth of plastic surgery.  Apparently little Poppy asks for plastic surgery all the time, she wants to look good, , and she can't wait to be like her Mummy with big boobs, as they are pretty. Her mother believes that she is investing into Poppy's future, as looks are a big part of peoples futures, and little girls dream of becoming WAGS etc, so looks are essential to achieve this goal.

So I know this is an extreme example of the effects of plastic surgery on children, but it shows there does exist a relationship between children being surrounded by it and it's influence.

In my opinion this mother is showing her daughter that perfection can be bought and achieved through plastic surgery, and its not OK to be happy with the way you look naturally, you need to enhance beauty. Overall small girls can grow up believing that they are not good enough, you have to be careful around influential minds.

I know being a beauty blogger, it can seems skeptical as we are always talking about beauty products and how good they make us feel and look, but I believe plastic surgery takes this beauty obsession to another level.

I would really love to know about all your opinions on plastic surgery.

Is it a good thing, or a bad thing?
Do you believe the younger generation are more susceptible to buying plastic surgery?

I want to know, as we never talk about such a big issue in the beauty industry, yet we are all beauty bloggers, thanks girls!

L'oreal Paris Sublime Mouse Hair Dye Review

Best picture I can find of my naturalish hair colour (on the left)
With the moose on
Straight after dying it- really nice red highlights
Hair styled (Me on the left)

The Good
  • Application is very very easy, just massage the moose onto your hair, mix it all in, be as messy as you want (or don't want). you don't have the normal nozzle that you have to drag through your hair.
  • Rinsing out the hair dye was quick. I don't have thick hair but it does normally take a while to wash out all the hair dye. This one literally washed straight out, took a lot less time than other traditional hair dyes.
  • The smell was not too overwhelming in my opinion.
  • The real life match was similar to what the pack suggested the results would be.

The Bad
  • After washing and rinsing my hair with the conditioner in the pack, my hair was not as shiny as other hair dyes have left it afterwards.

Overall- 4/5 I love this hair dye more than others because of the ease of application. The only downside is I doesn't leave my hair as shiny as I would like, but I would buy it again.

Have you tried this product before? Which hair dye do you use?

Fitness Fridays| Ways to detox everyday

Tumblr_lhps2j6pf51qdivaso1_500_large
Tumblr_lhsnkt2lml1qbsdgzo1_500_large

Tumblr_li6j7eeehi1qbv4sdo1_500_largeI know I have written and article before on detoxing, and whether it is a scam or not. My personal opinion is that tablets, and expensive shakes and syrups are not the answer. Detoxing is being kind to your body, giving it the nutrition it needs so it can function properly.

Everyday your liver, lungs, kidneys, digestive system and lymphatic system work overtime to help keep your body free from toxins. If you were to improve your everyday routine by incorporating a few of these tips you would be giving your body a helping hand, ensuring you stay beautiful. Following these tips could help you be slimmer, less bloated, and keep your hair, nails and skin strong and glowing.
  • Go Organic- This is a big ask, as we all know it can be pricey. But where you can, and whenever you have the opportunity pick organic. To help your body function properly you should feed it premium grade fuel in the form of organic fruit and veg, with plenty of wholegrain fibre and brown rice.
  • Drink more- Very simple, but very effective. You all probably know that drinking water flushes toxins out of your system. You can also get your dose of water from herbal teas, and fruits such as watermelon, cucumber and grapes.
  • Bathing Beauty- Having a sauna is a great way to sweat out you toxins, but if you can't get to a sauna, try a couple of handfuls of Epsom Salts in your bath. These salts draw out the impurities and improve you circulation.
  • Brush up- Skin brushing is a great way to detox by stimulating the lymphatic system. Do this with a natural bristle brush for five minutes a day, brush along your body towards the heart in long, smooth sweeps. A added benefit to this is that doing this reduces the appearance of cellulite.
  • Hot and Cold- Rinsing yourself alternatively in hot and cold water really boosts your circulation which helps rid nasty toxins in your body. Take a shower for five minutes in very hot water, allowing it to run down your back. Follow this with cold water for 30 seconds,  repeat 3 times, this will really wake you up.
  • Work it out- Sweat out your toxins. Simple, free and very effective. Studies have found for those who exercise, the time it takes for waste to pass through the system was increased by 60 per cent, not time for toxins to hang around!
  • Yoga Baby- Yoga is not just great for toning. It has great benefits for your insides, obviously the deep breathing used throughout yoga had detoxifying benefits. The yoga poses squeeze, stretch and massage the liver, intestines, kidneys and lungs, this helps you insides eliminate impurities and heal.
  • Snooze to loose- When you sleep your body goes into repair mode, it releases vital hormones that assist in the growth of healthy cells, healing of tissues, and fighting off infections. Studies have shown that those who don't sleep as much tend to be overweight or obese, more likely to develop diabetes, and eat foods high in calories and carbs.
Do you have any tricks you do everyday to improve your health?

NOTD| OPI Best of the Best

Last week I indulged in my OPI obsession and bought the Best of The Best collection on Ebay. It contains 10 of the best selling mini OPI shades. In my honest opinion I did it to save myself, as I think it is a bit of a bargain. I don't go through nail varnish very quickly so I would hate to spend £10 on a nail varnish that in a year of so won't be in perfect condition. I believe the mini OPI bottles are firstly very cute, but more importantly a perfect size. I got this collection for £23, so £2.30 a nail varnish is very reasonable!

The collection contains the shades; Alpine Snow, Bubble Bath, Tickle My France-y, Strawberry Margarita, Cajun Shrimp, Big Apple Red, I'm not Really a Waitress, You Don't Know Jacques!, Russian Navy, Lincoln Park After Dark. (N.B the shades Big Apple Red and I'm Not Really a Waitress are the wrong way round!)

I think my favourite shade at the moment is Tickle My France-Y. Which is your favourite shade, and what do you think of OPI nail varnish, worth the money?

The Brits The Good, The Bad and The Awful

Last night was The Brit Awards, another glamourous night full with a red carpet fashion parade for us all to judge. I didn't watch the awards myself, but according to the press this morning it was quite an eventful night. Unfortunately, in my eyes, it wasn't an eventful night for fashion, looking through many pictures I have to say I was mainly unimpressed, very few dresses really stood out for me. Anyways onto my take on who rocked their dress last night, and who didn't.

The Good
I know I slated fergie for
showing too much flesh, but
I think Jessie is my top girl
for the night. This dress is
revealing, but glamourous, she
looks totally amazing!
Holly rarely goes wrong in my opinion,
she is very lady like, classy, but always
sexy. Her whole ensemble is perfect, very
simple, but very effective.
Lana del Ray looks gorgeous.
Again a very simple dress, but
the cut is super flattering,
giving her curves in all
the right places.

The Bad
I know Adele was my favourite best dressed
at the Grammys in a very similar dress, but
this is why she is now on the worst dressed.
She looks good, but far to similar to
what she wore at the Grammys. At first I
thought this picture was from the Grammys.
The girl needs to mix it up more
Emma Bunton looks awkward
in this ensemble. I know she
looks young, but she's not in
her twenties anymore, this dress
is too young for her. I would
of liked a bit more glamour from
her.
Rihanna just has too much
going on in this ensemble-
sparkly dress, sparkly
shoes, long leather gloves,
boobs and legs out. If she
had worn the dress, with a
simple shoe and minus the
gloves, then she would of
looked better.

The Awful
Can someone please get Cher a new
stylist. She never looks good in my
opinion. I know she is trying to look
different and edgy, but here she looks
like a cross between a Quality
Street sweet and a Christmas cracker. I'm
sure that's not the look she was aiming for.

A very critical take on the outfits of the night, I know, but as I said earlier I was very underwhelmed.
My favourite star for the night has to be Jessie J, who was you best dressed?

L'oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara Review

One coat of Mascara
Two Coats of Mascara

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am a mascara fanatic, you will never ever catch me leaving the house without my mascara. In my opinion if I am mascara-less I look like a bug... not attractive. So because of this obsession I am forever trying out new mascaras, I am yet to find my all time favourite.

This month I bough the newest mascara L'oreal has to offer- False Lash Telescopic, endorsed by Cheryl Cole herself.

In L'oreal's opinion using this mascara will give me lashes that are off the scale, they will look elongated beyond their tips, resulting in telescopic length.

The Good

  • Small brush which is great for lower lashes and the corner of your eyes.
  • Quick drying, so applying layer upon layer is easy
  • Builds up quickly.. I felt happy with one coat of mascara
  • Did not clump
The Bad
  • Small brush which did not pick up a lot of mascara
Overall- 4/5

I am really impressed with this mascara. The only downside is I would like a bit more volume, but with the extreme length it gives I can't be too fussy.

Cosy Cardigan| OOTD

This is my outfit from last Friday night. Not a wild night like Katy Perry's Friday nights, but more just dinner and drinks at a lovely pub in the outskirts of Newcastle. Very casual and cosy (it was -2C outside!)

I basically dressed down a dress I would wear to party in, by teaming it with chunky knit tights, and chunky knit cardigan, pulled in at the waist with a skinny belt.

*Dress- Dorothy Perkins*
*Cardigan-Primark*
*Tights- Topshop*
*Shoes- Primark*

I hoped you all made the most of your cosy knits over the past few weeks while its been freezing!

Fitness Fridays| Little changes equal big changes

Image taken from We Heart It
    So a few of the past Fitness Friday articles may have been a little daunting or a too big of a challenge for some of my lovely readers and followers. Therefore today I am offering some advice on the little changes that everyone can make that will make a big change to your life and health, so here we go;

    1. Eat before you exercise- research shows that your body burns the same amount of fat whether you eat before exercise or not. However exercising on an empty stomach means you exhaust your supply of glycogen (this is glucose you store for energy). If you do this you will end up burning more your muscle instead of building it... not good girls!
    2. Combine your strength exercises- do not just lift your arms weights while standing still. If you are doing arms lifts with your free weights, combine these movements with squats, as the more muscles you use at the same time the more calories you will burn. Don't over do it though!
    3. Beware of mini-sized snacks- you may think eating snack size treats is being good, however studies have shown that it is easy to overeat these. This is because it makes it harder to stick to one portion, your silly little mind believes that because the calorie count is so low on these snacks, you convince yourself that its OK to have seconds. Its OK if you have the iron will and will power, but just be careful girls!
    4. Reduce your rest time- The fewer rests you do mean you do the same amount of work, but in less time, therefore reducing your workout time, or meaning you can do twice as much work in the same amount of time. In a study, it was found that people who waited 35 seconds between exercise sets lost 27% more body fat than those who rested for three minutes.
    5. Eat protein at every meal- Please please so this girls! This will dramatically change your diet for the better, so if you make one change do this! You will fell fuller for longer, which prevents you from snacking. The best sources are eggs, lean meat and fish, and nuts.

    Metallic Nails| NOTD

Another look at what my nails are dressed up like today. I think they look quite futuristic! I hope you like them.

    Valentines Day

I hope you all had a lovely day, whatever you were doing. I am one of my only friends that is in a relationship, so the majority of people I know were on nights out. I stayed in with my boyfriend, and treated him to a three course dinner cooked from scratch from me. It took me all day seems I am an awful cook, but I thought it was more special that taking him out.

I think I did alright. What did you do for your special someone? Or did you treat yourself?
