Products I Loved From The Natural Products Expo West 2014

Products I Loved From The Natural Products Expo West 2014

Silver Hills Sprouted Organic Ancient Grains- These breads are not only incredibly healthful, but SO delicious! The owners of this company see sprouting as the key to unlocking the whole grain nutrition found inside the shell. When a grain is sprouted and begins to grow, stored nutrients become readily available as enzymes activate and enzyme inhibitors, which inhibit digestion, are broken down along with phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that inhibits the absorption of nutrients. They do not use any oil, artificial preservatives, additives, stabilizers, eggs, dairy or genetically modified anything. Silver Hills breads and bagels are vegan and kosher, and are packaged in bio-degradable bags. Right now the products are available in the West and Midwest, but you can order them online.

OMG Blends- Stands for Organic.Made.Great. These all organic ingredient blended smoothies are homemade, including the almond milk. According to founder, Luciana Bienstock,” Beverages that are made exclusively with juiced fruits and vegetables lack the broad spectrum of nutrients your body needs to function optimally”. So she’s offering smoothies that keep the fiber intact for a healthier vegan lifestyle. They’re Ashley Koff Approved, meaning they are “a better quality choice, do not contain any nutrition ‘no, no’s,’ such as: “artificial stuff, too much of something, not enough of another.”  Note: They are only available in Southern California right now, but Bienstock is hoping to go national.

Spicely Organic Teas- This Company imports 100% organic spices, using FairTrade options when possible. Although all imported spices are required to be sterilized before being sold in the United States, most spice companies use synthetic chemicals or radiation. Spicely does steam sterilization without adding any chemicals or hazardous materials. Their teas not only taste beautiful, but they look so appealing. I loved their hibiscus cardamom made from only cardamom pods and hibiscus leaves. Their sister company is Organic Spices. Everything is vegan, gluten free, and kosher. They also have a line of phenomenal chocolates infused with herbs and spices, like lavender vanilla, lemon tarragon. Check out the website- it is a virtual cornucopia of delicious options!

Made in Nature- This Company has been known for their fresh organic produce and packaged dried fruit. But now, with the help of a delightful young nutritional chef, Stephanie Stock, the company has introduced six new packaged organic grain and legume fusions in meal pouches you can heat up as a snack or whole meal in a minute. I loved the Thai Coconut and Moroccan Bazaar flavors. They were the best packaged food I have ever tasted (I cook everything from scratch at home).

Essential Oxygen- This Company makes a brushing rinse that is really great for cleaning and whitening your teeth. It is made with all natural and organic ingredients like aloe vera, hydrogen peroxide, peppermint, eucalyptus, and lemon, clove and cinnamon oils. I balked at trying a liquid for brushing my teeth, but after reading the list of ingredients, I gave it a squirt and followed the directions to swish it around your mouth. It felt amazing, completely unique, so different from traditional toothpaste and much fresher. I am definitely switching to this for my teeth cleaning. Will keep you posted if it helps whiten them!

Freekeh Foods- This Company’s products are really delicious. Freekeh(pronounced free-kuh) has a smokey flavor, and nutty chewy texture. They make three flavors- Classic Original, and two seasoned flavors—a savory blend of organic Rosemary and Sage, and a bold Tamari, flavored with organic shoyu sauce. Although Freekeh contains gluten, when the wheat is harvested and processed, the gluten is denatured. Some people find that Freekeh has fewer side effects than other wheat products. It has up to three times the fiber and protein found in brown rice, and fewer calories than quinoa and white rice. Certified organic by Oregon Tilth. For some great recipes (I loved the freekeh stew with yams, kale and chickpeas), check out their website.

Seaweed Bath Co Wildly Natural Seaweed Detox Cellulite Soap- I loved this black soap in the shower. It worked as a phenomenal exfoliator and I felt my skin tighten, especially around those problem areas- namely, thighs and buttocks. It’s made with bladderwrack seaweed extract, organic coffee and cinnamon, and smells and looks so cool, you might want to eat it as well as clean with it!
