Hey guys, open your eyes: Women pay more attention to nutrition information than men, says a new Gallup poll.
Gallup’s annual Consumption Habits survey found that guys are 12 percent less likely to read labels on food packages and 13 percent less likely to take a peek at nutrition numbers at restaurants.
Why’s that matter? Because people who note nutrition facts are also less likely to be fat, according to a study in the Journal of Agricultural Economics.
Of course, inspecting fine print won’t help much unless you make healthier decisions after doing so. Plus, food companies try their best to trick you into eating more with tactics like using colorful labels. Luckily, we’ve got your back: Here’s how to decode food labels and keep your diet on track.
