Envy Angelina Jolie's famous full lips? Join the club. Unfortunately, not everyone can be born with pillow-like lips so plump you could sleep on them. But everyone can fake it. We asked New York City-based makeup artist MJ Forte to spill how you can get full-looking lips in five simple steps.
1. Conceal
This step is an unconventional one, but it makes all the difference: Forte says to dab a small amount of concealer on the center of your bottom lip; it will make it look like your pout is much fuller than it actually is.

2. Line Your Lips
If you want to fake full lips, liner is a must. Forte recommends lining your lips just slightly outside your natural lip line with a lip liner in your desired shade. The difference is mere millimeters, but it will make a huge visual impact. After you're done lining around your lips, take the pencil, and fill in the rest. "This trick helps your lips look one even color," says Forte.

3. Apply A Satin-Texture "My Lips, But Better" Lipstick
Forte recommends sticking to neutral colors in a satin finish when going for full lips—and avoiding dark shades when you want a full-looking pout. "Darker colors will make the lips appear smaller, hence why we wear our 'little black dress' [to appear thinner]," says Forte. She adds that frosty finishes also visually slim lips. An across-the-board favorite for full-looking lips? Try MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Faux ($16, maccosmetics.com), a muted pink in a satin finish.
4. Gloss It Over
Adding a little bit of shine can also help the lips look much fuller than they are. Forte says that some prefer to apply a clear gloss just in the center of the lower lip for a highlighting effect (much like the concealer trick from step one), but she likes to apply gloss all over to add dimension.
5. Highlight
For the finishing touch, if you're feeling extra-ambitious, add a highlighter to your Cupid's bow. Applying a light-reflecting highlighter to the peaks of your pout adds an extra bit of depth, creating the illusion of fuller lips. Forte recommends using the NARS The Multiple ($39, sephora.com) a multi-purpose highlighting stick that comes in 14 colors.
