Christian Grey may live in Seattle, but the rest of Washington isn’t all that interested in BDSM, says recent data from Pornhub. The largest online porn site recently analyzed all of their search statistics by state and by country to see where people search for videos featuring bondage, domination, submission and more.
It turns out the states that are the most curious about kink are Wyoming, Alaska, Vermont, West Virginia and Oregon. Washington, home of Fifty Shades, ranks at 24, and California, which is notorious for its role in the sexual revolution, comes in dead last at 50.
While Pornhub doesn’t really have an explanation for these stats, maybe people in rural areas are just a whole lot kinkier, or maybe being farther from a big city makes your fantasies run wild. Who knows, but it's definitely some interesting news.

But compared to the rest of the world, the U.S. doesn't rank very high in BDSM searches—despite our infatuation with Fifty Shades of Grey. Austria and Germany are actually the kinkiest when it comes to porn searches, while the U.S. falls below the worldwide average and ranks closer to China and Japan on the kink search spectrum.

But obviously, these stats are only looking at searches on Pornhub, so they don't necessarily reflect what's going on in bedrooms across the country.
