The Playlist That'll Help You Get More Out of Your Gym Time

The Playlist That'll Help You Get More Out of Your Gym Time

This mix from AYC Health & Fitness will keep you pumped throughout your entire sweat session.

Every week, Your New Favorite Playlist introduces you to workout-worthy tunes from a different fitness brand. This week, AYC Health & Fitness shares one of its go-to playlists.

When AYC Health & Fitness opened back in 1986, it only offered personal training sessions (in fact, it was the Kansas City area's first personal training center, says owner Greg Justice). So when the studio started offering 30-minute boot camp classes, it used a similar approach to group fitness: "My trainers have been instructed and actually trained in how to take on the personality of the people they're training," says Justice, "so the classes kind of take on their own personality, too, depending on who's in them."

Given the studio's fitness philosophy, it makes sense that its playlists have something for everyone. "I just think it's so important to introduce our clients to a wide range of music to keep them engaged and interested," says Justice, who includes songs from different decades in every mix he makes. The playlist below is the one he uses for his high-intensity outdoor classes, which include intervals of moves like tire flipping and sledgehammering. He keeps the playlist long (the whole thing would take two hours and 13 minutes to listen to from start to finish, whereas the class is only 30 minutes) so he can use the same mix each week without it getting old. "Sometimes I let it play straight through until class ends, and other times I skip songs," he says. Steal it for your own sweat sessions:
