Stephen Colbert Giving Fatherly Relationship Advice Will Melt Your Heart

Stephen Colbert Giving Fatherly Relationship Advice Will Melt Your Heart

The comedian breaks character to talk about boy problems, and it's awesome.

Although it's hard to imagine what Stephen Colbert is like outside of his hilarious, satirical political commentary, we now have a glimpse of what he's like as a knowledge-dropping dad. Stephen recently participated in Ask a Grown Man for Rookie, a video segment where young girls write in to ask famous men for advice on crucial young-adult problems, and the Emmy-award winner's answers were on point. Check out this rare out-of-character interview, where he offers sweet, sensitive, and totally straightforward advice:

Our favorite moment is when he's responding to a question about a girl who likes a guy, though he's sometimes mean to her: "If he lies to you and is mean to you, then he may like you, but he's not treating you well. I wouldn't waste my time with someone who lies to you," Stephen tells her, before snapping his fingers and advising her to "kick him to the curb!"

Although the advice is aimed at teens, it's refreshingly honest and totally reminds us of the fatherly advice we've all gotten before. And hey, boy-problems can evolve into man-problems, so some of this stuff is definitely worth hearing again.

Tell us: What's the best love advice you've ever gotten from your dad? Let us know in the comments below.
