Ever lie on the beach and feel like you're being judged? 33-year-old mother-of-three Tanis Jex-Blake knows she has been. Recently, she was relaxing on the beach in Alberta, Canada, when two guys and one girl began to taunt her, laughing at the stretch marks she had developed carrying her children.
"It started with, 'oh my god, look. Look! That's f—— gross!'" Tanis wrote in a message to her Facebook group for moms.
She then turned to her own Facebook page, where she posted an open letter to her stretch-mark shamers:
You tell them, Tanis! While body shaming of any kind is pointless and cruel, it's especially ignorant when centered on the body changes that surround pregnancy. A mother's stretch marks aren't something to laugh at—and they're not something to hide, either. As Tanis says, "my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.
