Everyone has moments when they pick on their bodies and call out certain features they don't like—but it's so, so important to build a loving relationship with your bod. (Really—does anyone want to be mentally berating themselves on a regular basis?) So we got experts to share a few ways you can get into a more self-loving mindset. Put them to work today to start feeling more glowy and gorgeous ASAP.
Treat Your Body Like Your Friend
You adore your friends and family—so you'd never insult them for making minor mistakes. You want to have that same attitude with your body, says Leslie Goldman, a Chicago-based body image expert. She suggests asking yourself, "Would I say this to a friend?" every time you become self-critical about your body. Treating your body with that same respect will help you develop more compassion for it.

Make Time For Your Body
"Many of us get so caught up in the business of our lives that we don't spend a lot of time with our bodies," says Emily Sandoz, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and author of Living With Your Body and Other Things You Hate, who recommends scheduling some time to bond with your bod. Instead of taking a five-minute shower, spend time massaging and washing every inch of yourself during a bubble bath. Make it a regular habit, and you'll start to view your relationship with body as something sacred, says Sandoz.
Buy Clothes That Make You Look Amazing
Instead of throwing on the same raggedy bra that you've had for years, splurge on a new piece of lingerie. This goes for any piece of clothing or accessory, but the key is to dress in a way that complements your body, says Sandoz. Don't think of your clothes as a way to hide your imperfections—but as a way to celebrate your body and play up its best features.

Clear Out the Trash Talk
You know those mean comments you always make about your body? Write them down on paper—them throw them away, suggests Sandoz. Research published in Psychological Science shows that recording negative thoughts and tossing them in the trash can actually help you eliminate them.
Say "Thank You" To Your Body
No one has a perfect body—but we guarantee that your body does amazing things every day. Practice your favorite activity—whether it's running, yoga, or rock climbing—to remind yourself of the incredible things your body can do, says Robyn Silverman, body-image expert and author of Good Girls Don't Get Fat: How Weight Obsession is Messing our Girls and How We Can Help Them Thrive Despite It. When you look at your body from this perspective, you see its true value.
