We're all for a good set-up or blind date, but what about a blind marriage? On fyi's radical new reality TV show, three couples agree to a marriage arranged by four expert matchmakers before meeting their new mate.
Seriously. There's no dating, no sex, no sharing a toothbrush—these brave souls fast forward straight to 'I do.' Using scientific matchmaking parameters designed by a sexologist, a spiritualist, a psychologist, and a sociologist, Married At First Sight sets six people up to legally marry their match at first glance. Viewers then follow the couples throughout their initial weeks together as they decide to stick it out for a lifetime or separate. And you thought The Bachelor was high stakes reality TV.

OK, it does sounds crazy, but this "revolutionary social experiment" might not be a total gimmick. Each expert actually did take the time to meet with the individuals on the show. Then, through a combination of interviews, questionnaires, and tests, they came up with the (hopefully) ideal match.
Logan Levkoff, Ph.D., the sexologist on Married At First Sight, told us she focused on issues of sexuality, intimacy and attraction. She found out everything about each person from their relationship role models and sexual dealbreakers to their political views on reproductive rights. Levkoff even asked friends and family members about how they viewed each participant's sexual openness and style of intimacy. "My role is to get a sense of who these individuals are as sexual beings from a holistic perspective," she explains. "This is something we don't take lightly. [The show] is provocative with a tremendous amount of heart."

Hey, we already trust the Internet to set us up on dates, so maybe four personalized matchmakers could conceivably set up a successful marriage. After all, there are stranger ways to predict a lasting relationship—like if you use a lot of the same words, if you have a gut feeling, and if you cuddle at night. Still, it's hard to ignore the fact that these are complete strangers getting hitched.
That said, it's going to be crazy entertaining to watch these couples encounter all the awkward parts of a new relationship on national television. And obviously, we hope there's a happy ending or two at the end. So what do you think: Is Married At First Sight completely nuts or totally genius? Would you watch the show?
