Reality star turned CrossFit competitor and trainer who's all about serving up comfort-zone-smashing workouts
Aha moment: Watching herself on MTV Real World DC. "It wasn't that I was overweight, but I knew I felt really unhappy. I was sick of hating my body." So she uprooted and moved to Colorado, where she discovered a serious passion for fitness. "I found interval training, weight lifting, and CrossFit, and it forever changed my life."
Training Style: Fresh strength workouts that race against the clock to keep you working hard every minute. "There's something so mentally empowering that comes from lifting a heavier weight than you thought you could. You finish your workout feeling like a complete badass, and everyone deserves to feel that."
Workout Wisdom: "Change your focus to change your body." Instead of thinking about the weight you want to lose, track how many reps you can do in a certain time period each workout. "That's a measure of progress that's more effective—and motivating—than the scale."
SIGNATURE MOVE: BURPEE WITH STEP-UP
Squat down and place your hands on the floor (a). Jump your feet back and lower your body to the floor (b). Reverse the move to stand, then place your left foot on a box (c). Press through left foot to stand on the box (d). Return to start. Continue for 60 seconds, alternating legs, then rest for 60 seconds; repeat sequence for 10 minutes. Make it harder: Jump onto the box with both feet.
