How Mindy Kaling Really Feels About Her Weight

How Mindy Kaling Really Feels About Her Weight

The funny lady gets serious for a second.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Mindy Kaling said, "There's a whole list of things I would probably change about myself. For example, I'm always trying to lose 15 pounds. But I never need to be skinny. I don't want to be skinny. I'm constantly in a state of self-improvement, but I don't beat myself up over it."

Wow, what an awesome mindset: being focused more on self-enhancement than a certain size—and more on overall health than very specific (and often debatable) markers of health. Pull a Mindy, and take an inventory of your current feelings and behaviors. Some key questions to ask yourself: Are you active? Do you eat whole foods and lots of fruits and vegetables on the regular? Are you getting enough sleep? Do you keep your drinking and smoking in check? Do you get regular checkups? How's your hygiene? Are you a safe driver?

This kind of introspection doesn't have to be naggy—instead, look at it as a way to show yourself some love so you can embrace, and ultimately improve, you.
