The Winter Games' Most Dangerous Sport

The Winter Games' Most Dangerous Sport

It may look like nothing more than fast speeds and lots of luck, but the luge--whizzing down a sheet of ice at 90 miles per hour--takes some serious skill to master. So, given that Olympic athletes are sliding down Sochi's track this week, we caught up with Team USA luger Chris Mazdzer.

A few things you should know his sport: Many consider luge to be the most dangerous sport at the Games. At the Vancouver Olympics, an athlete lost control of a sled and died in a training run just hours before opening ceremonies. And forget fast thinking. By the time you think, "I should have done this," or, "I should have done that," it's too late, Mazdzer says.

In his own words, here's what you need to know about about the luge--and why, to the athletes, "life is kind of like a sped up black and white movie."
