Even the most serious situations can make you laugh. On this week's episode of Men's Health Live, renowned Sports Illustrated writer Jack McCallum approaches his own prostate cancer with equal parts earnestness and humor. In his new book, The Prostate Monologues, McCallum details how he was diagnosed, the options he was given, and the choices he had to make for his health.
McCallum explains his decision to ultimately get treated:
"What I finally decided was this burden of not knowing and believing I could live until I was 92 years old . . . I just wanted it off my mind. I had the idea that because I was going into it with pretty good chances to avoid incontinence and erectile dysfunction, I would come out of the surgery that way. No one can tell you exactly, in a lot of cases, that you should get intervention or you shouldn't. There are a lot of personal decisions that you have to make about your health."
