This Formerly Obese Dog Is Now a Calendar Model

This Formerly Obese Dog Is Now a Calendar Model

#fitspiration

Obie the wiener dog gained fame for being both lovable and seriously overweight. When he made the morning news and talk show rounds back in 2012, he came in at more than 70 pounds, according to a CNN video.

But just two years later, the pup that used to have to wear a vest to keep his tummy from rubbing against the ground is modeling his 23-pound beach body in a 2015 calendar, available now for $25. For his photo shoot, the calendar boy ran along the beach (as models do), gave his best pensive stare while sitting in a beach chair, and even showed off his slimmer booty for a tail shot.

According to CNN, Obie's weight first began to climb when he was in the care of two elderly adults who frequently fed him human food. When his new owner, Nora Vanatta, a vet tech, adopted him in 2012, she helped the little guy get his poundage under control by putting him on a weight-loss diet of dry dog food. (Okay, so it’s not a revolutionary approach, but he is a canine.)  Check out the full CNN video below to get all the details of the dog's impressive weight loss and his new cal.
