In case you hadn't noticed, Daniel Radcliffe is a delight in interviews. Whether he's telling adorable stories about losing his virginity or setting the record straight about the "friend zone," the former Harry Potter actor continues to prove that he's matured into this awesome, responsible man. Most recently, when asked about his new status as a sex symbol while discussing his film Horns, Daniel had a pretty great response.
He first replied, "If anyone sees me that way, I'm delighted. That's awesome." But then he continued to make a really interesting point about sexism in the film industry:
"Around the time of What If, the rom com coming out, a lot of people were saying, 'You know, you're a really unconventional romantic lead.' So eventually I got bored of hearing that and I kind of picked someone up on it and was like, 'What about me is unconventional exactly? Tell me.' And she said, 'Well, I think it's probably the fact that, you know, we associated you with playing Harry, the young boy, for so long.' And my immediate response was, 'Well, the male population has had no problem sexualizing Emma Watson immediately.'"
Watch him drop that feminist truth bomb below:
Props to Daniel for taking the opportunity to call out how media and audiences often have the tendency to sexualize female stars more often—and more quickly—than their male counterparts. He was obviously listening when Emma spoke to the U.N. about the importance of male voices in the feminist movement.
