6 Beauty Routines That Work Better When You Do Them Naked

6 Beauty Routines That Work Better When You Do Them Naked

Strip down to get gorgeous.

Maybe it's just human nature, but who doesn't love an excuse to be in the nude sometimes? We found five of them that will actually enhance your beauty routine, all of which come highly recommended by Elizabeth Harvey, lead esthetician at Jurlique in New York City. No body shaming here!

Exfoliation
Try buffing your skin in the buff for maximum results. Harvey says that this mimics the experience you have at the spa, leaving your skin looking its very best from head to toe. "Exfoliating when completely unclothed is the way to go," she says. "This ensures every inch is smooth and glowing."

Bronzing
"Applying self tanner and then relaxing au-natural delivers deeper, more even, and more natural-looking color to the skin," says Harvey. This is because you let the pigment of the tanner absorb into your skin instead of the clothes you might have put on afterward. Bonus: You won't have to worry about staining your outfit.

Self-Massage
Get that blood-pumping just-came-from-the-gym glow without hitting the treadmill. Harvey says that by either quickly dry brushing the skin or massaging it with your hands, you can get your blood flowing and relieve tired muscles. Do this one nude, too; the circulatory system works throughout your entire body, so you won't want to miss an inch.

Fragrance
"Spritzing your favorite fragrance on all of your pulse points delivers the longest-lasting results," says Harvey. Those pulse points are the warmest points in your body, heating the fragrance all day for maximum potency. Harvey recommends applying your perfume naked to easily hit all of these points: the backs of the knees, the insides of the elbows, and the spots just above your hipbones.

Sleeping
We all know that getting a solid eight hours of sleep is key to looking great—hence the name "beauty sleep." To get your skin extra-moisturized and relax your senses at the same time, Harvey recommends applying Jurique Rose Body Oil ($48, jurlique.com) liberally over every inch of your skin and then hopping between the sheets sans-clothes. This allows your skin to absorb the moisture, not your PJs. (Don't worry, this won't mess up your sheets—the body oil is lightweight.)

Slathering on SPF
You know how it's almost impossible to keep those areas just along the edge of your shirt or swimsuit from burning? That won't be an issue if you put on your SPF in the nude. "Applying sunscreen sans clothing is a great way to ensure that each and every little bit of exposed skin stays well protected from the sun's harmful rays," says Harvey.
