Fish isn't just delicious; it can actually be strengthen your brain, too. Eating fish once a week is linked to more gray matter in the brain regions like the hippocampus and orbital frontal cortex, which are key players in dementia and Alzheimer's, according to a new study in American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
Researchers analyzed self-reported dietary information from 260 study participants who also underwent MRI scans. Those who had baked or broiled fish (so, not the beer-battered variety) weekly had 4.3 percent more gray matter volume in the part of the brain responsible for memory. They also had 14 percent more in the area linked with cognition.

Granted, the study just showed a correlation—not causation—so researchers can't be sure that fish were the reason some study subjects increased their gray matter.
