Wondering why your date from Friday night is ghosting on you? If you weren't on board with his furry roommate, that could be the reason. A whopping 66 percent of single pet owners said they wouldn't date someone who didn't like pets, according to a recent survey by Match.com and PetSmart.
The two companies surveyed over 1,000 pet-owning singles to uncover the truth about cats, dogs, and dating. And it turns out, your thoughts on furry friends are pretty damn important when it comes to dating a pet lover. Plus, 59 percent of pet owners agree that adopting a pet is hotter than buying one, and 35 percent of women have been more attracted to someone because of their pet. (Exhibit A: these male celebs who look even hotter with their pets—not that they needed the help.)
So clearly if you want to date someone who comes with animal baggage, you better be a fan of dogs/cats/iguanas/whatever they're into. But what if your date's cat sends you into a sneezing fit? Well, it's not like they can hold that against you (or at least, they shouldn't!). That said, here are a few ways to deal with pet allergies so you can keep your date and their dog happy.
Tell us: Is it a deal breaker if your date doesn't like your pet? Or have you ever been dumped because you didn't mesh well with their animal? Tell us about it in the comments below.
