It's one of the most annoying workplace problems around: You feel super virtuous because you took the time to prepare and bring a healthy lunch to work. But after you leave it in the fridge in the morning, it's somehow missing by lunchtime. Stolen. Not there. #WTF!
Well, you're not alone in your agitation. Founders of the site Etiquette Hell (which was created for users to complain about rudeness) recently said that that fridge theft is the No. 1 most common complaint its visitors rant about. To help you deal with this dilemma, we asked our Facebook followers to share their craziest fridge-theft stories—and what they do to safeguard their midday meals. Here are our favorite strategies—we highly suggest stealing their secrets!
Make It Hard to Steal Your Lunch
"Even when I put my name on it, my food still goes missing. So frustrating. So now I've started putting my meal in a lunch box and then sticking it in the fridge. It seems to deter people if they actually have to go and open your bag." —Sandi Allman

Make It Even Harder to Steal Your Lunch
"I put my food inside a tied grocery bag. Then I put that bag inside my lunch bag. And then I put my lunch bag all the way in the back of fridge or in the vegetable compartment. Lol. Most people don't care to look there. So far it has worked!!!!!" —Angelica Pantoja Garcia Luis
Tape It Up
"At an old job, a staff member's bratty kids were coming in and literally stealing the berries off of my Greek yogurt. I began obnoxiously wrapping the entire container with Scotch tape and putting a huge sign on it with my name and a skull and crossbones. It worked!" —Joanna Riffelmacher
Make Your Lunch Less Appetizing
"That used to happen to me until I let everyone know that I had started spitting on my food before placing it in the fridge. Suddenly they stopped stealing my food!!!" —Lanell Williams

Shame Stealers
"I made special cheese on a cheese farm, and it was stolen. So now I leave guilt trip notes on my food, like, 'God is watching you.' Haha!" —Fran Stassen
While You're At It, Shame Them Shamelessly
"This is the sign I put on our lunchroom board when someone stole my food. I was eight to nine months pregnant at the time. Shame, shame, shame on some people." —Elizabeth Rico
And If All Else Fails…Stop Bringing Your Lunch
"I brought a Hot Pocket to work and put it in the freezer. I came in at lunchtime, and there was someone eating a Hot Pocket. I thought, 'Oh, we both brought the same thing.' I go to the freezer, and mine wasn't there. I looked at the person and asked, 'Is that mine?' They said, 'Nope,' finished it, and walked out. I looked in the trash, and the wrapper was sitting right there with my name on it. From then on, I stopped bringing my lunch and only went out for lunch." —Chrissy Fleishman
This one doesn't offer a tip on how to protect your lunch—but it was too hilarious not to share:
"I put half of a foot-long Subway sandwich and a bag of chips in my work fridge. When I came back at the end of the day, half of the sandwich was eaten and all of the chips were gone. Talk about adding insult to injury. If you're going to eat food that's not yours, at least take it all! Not like I'm going to even touch it after it's been bitten. Thanks but no thanks!" —Daiza Gonzales
