You've heard that yoga is an awesome workout when you're expecting—all that bending and posing helps keep your core toned and reduces stress, too. But yoga also deserves props as a great mind-body exercise that can help new moms get their pre-baby body back.
Take it from rock star yoga instructor Hilaria Baldwin. Mrs. Alec Baldwin, who launched her inspiring #YogaPostureOfTheDay posts back in January (just months after delivering), recently gave a postnatal yoga demo to Giada De Laurentiis for Giada Weekly, the star's digital magazine.
"Yoga tightens your muscles—the activation and the stretch—and the breathing supplies more oxygen to the muscles," said Hilaria. She spotlighted three poses as being the best for post-pregnancy: plank, cobra, and sphinx (which Giada and Hilaria are pictured doing above): "Plank is really great," she said. "I did a lot of that as well as cobra pose and sphinx pose. I also like a variation on plank called dolphin plank. You balance on your forearms with your feet and heels together, then bend your knees one at a time or dip your hips from side to side. Try to keep your heels together and stay stationary."
