Last year, Australian surfer Kristi Olivares was hitting the waves four days a week with her friends and documenting the whole experience. Oh right, and did we mention she was pregnant?

Olivares addresses the risks of surfing for two in a blog post, but also notes the precautions she took: sticking with waist-height or lower waves, taking the day off when there was a big swell, and protecting her bump whenever she fell off the board. In fact, her doctor—a fellow surfer—applauded her for maintaining her healthy lifestyle throughout the pregnancy.

“Surfing is such incredible fun, amazing stress relief, and great exercise that if I think it would be dangerous for my baby, [I] would stop surfing!” Olivares writes.
