It’s easy to see why celebs love Mandy Ingber, the wellness expert who has turned Jennifer Aniston, Kate Beckinsale and other A-listers into bona fide yogis. Her infectious positivity shines through in her best-selling book Yogalosophy, her DVD of the same name and her much-faved tweets (@msmandyingber)—through which she gently encourages fans to progress to the next level in their own practices. Read on for Ingber’s fit-and-happy obsessions. You’ll love her, too!

Know your studios. “The first thing I do when I travel is find the gym and figure out what my routine will be. I like Hot 8 Yoga, YogaWorks, Hustle & Flow Fitness, Revolution Fitness and Kinetic Cycling in L A and Pure Yoga in New York.”

Breathe it in. “I put Young Living Essential Oils ($45, youngliving.com) on my hands during a session and have the client inhale—the scent engages her senses, which allows her to become more present and relaxed. The Thieves blend, a mix of cloves, rosemary and other aromatics, is amazing.”

Focus on the feeling. “The miracle of my body motivates me. I love the feeling of being fit and taking care of myself. It’s that sensation, not the result, that I get addicted to.”

Don’t skimp on gear. “For yoga, having a good mat and towel are key. I like mats from Kulae (from $24, kulae.com) and Yogitoes’ (from $24, yogitoes.com) non-skid towels.”

Weigh your options. “I can make up a lot of stories about how healthy I’ve been when I’m not weighing myself. The scale keeps me honest.”

Bounce your way fit. “When I went to India for a retreat, I didn’t want to take a walk because I worried I’d get lost, so I found a rusty old rebounder [mini-trampoline] at the ashram. My boyfriend helped me carry it to the roof, and I went up there every day to use it. I now use a Bellicon rebounder (from $629, bellicon-usa.com), which helps me break a sweat.”

Be a class act. “I don’t use fitness trackers, but I see the value in having something to be acco untable to. I’m a class person. I love group energy—that’s what motivates me.”

Find middle ground. “My father was health- and body-obsessed, and while it gave me a great education in wellness, I learned the hard way that being super strict has detriments; I developed an eating disorder at age 11. Today, I focus on enjoyment and choice as opposed to achievement. Life is about sustainability and balance.”
